Prayer Shawl Ministry Group
Do you like to knit or crochet? If you do, or maybe you would like to learn, Christ Church Anglican is beginning a Prayer Shawl Ministry. If you have never been a part of one, it is a wonderful experience. One prays for the person they are making the shawl for as they knit/crochet. Different kinds and colors of yarn can be used. 66 stitches are usually cast on to start for the 66 books in the Bible. Some knitters do a knit 3, purl 3 sequence. This stands for Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Others just do regular knitting or crochet stitches. Sometimes the edges or ends of the shawl are finished with fancy fur yarn, decorative stitches, fringe, or just left plain.
The finished shawls are then blessed and given to people who are grieving, ill, have had a new baby, getting married, going through a rough time in their life, etc.
This event is not for women only. Men and Youth are invited to participate also.
This can be done at home or at the Sewing Social Group which meets on 2nd Saturdays of each month, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Office/Fellowship Building. If you would like to participate, contact Debby Graham, or call her at 707-4228.
