FAQ's

Why can’t we purchase the Office/Fellowship Center ?

This option was considered but deemed not in Christ Church’s best long term interest for several reasons.   First, the building and land size are very limiting for long term growth.  If purchased and upgraded the total investment would restrict the Church’s ability to purchase a more suitable permanent facility for many years.

Is buying this property the best use of God’s money?

Being good stewards of God’s gifts is an awesome responsibility and we have not taken it lightly.  We believe that God has directed us to this land and that from His bounty He will provide the means  to purchase it. We believe that providing a permanent facility for Christ Church will provide for the most effective use of these funds over the long term.

How did we make the decision to buy land?

After the July 2007 parish survey, which demonstrated that the vast majority of the congregation supported a permanent facility within 5 years, a facility committee was formed. For the past six months, the clergy, leadership council members, and facility committee members have been discussing the possibility of buying land. We talked, thought, prayed, and thought some more, prayed some more, studied, and went through a structured process of discernment. We honestly believe that we arrived at a reasoned, studied decision.

How did we chose to buy this land?

We looked at several pieces of raw land, as well as existing buildings, within the search area.  None met our criteria as to size and location as well as this tract.  Multiple zoning and limited road frontage makes this tract less desirable for commercial development which is reflected in the price.  Also, the seller’s willingness to further discount the price and provide partial financing at below market rates make this tract very desirable for Christ Church.  Further discussions, prayer and discernment have led us to believe that this piece of land is the right choice for Christ Church.

What do we plan to build?

Ultimately this will depend on the success of the Restoring Righteousness Campaign.  The preliminary vision is to build two connected buildings: a 4400 square foot building that will be multi-purpose and include offices, meeting rooms, nursery, and kitchen.  The second building will be approximately 5200 square feet and be used for worship and fellowship space. When church growth warrants it, a larger sanctuary would be built and the existing worship/fellowship space would be reconfigured into a larger fellowship hall.  Preliminary conceptual details are included in this brochure.

When do we have to decide if we can afford to buy this property and build permanent facilities?

The details of our contract were outlined in a letter distributed to the congregation on June 1st and are as follows; the church has until July 12th to determine the suitability of the property for our use and to investigate possible defects or problems.  If by that date no issues are revealed, we have until August 12th to complete the transaction.  After July 12th, if we have not withdrawn our offer, our $50,000 deposit becomes non-refundable if we do not close.  Commencement of construction will be dependent upon the availability of necessary funds or appropriate financing.

Can’t the money I am giving each week to the church now go towards payment for this property?

No, the money you are currently giving pays for costs of operating the church such as salaries, rent, etc.  This property must be paid for with additional sacrificial giving by each and every member of Christ Church (Anglican).

Will buying this property and building a permanent facility get us so far in debt that we won’t be able to fulfill our mission and ministry as a church?

We will continue our mission using the operating funds we are currently using.  Our current financial status is sound.  The property and construction will only be purchased with money raised from the “Restoring Righteousness” campaign with enough funds raised so that debt is not a burden.  Furthermore, having a permanent facility will help the church to continue to grow which will enhance our ability to expand our mission and ministry.
